2010 Weekend Warrior BBQ Competiton Winners!
Here are the results of the June 23rd competition held at the 2010 Pork Congress.
Ground Pork: 1st place – Ellice Optimists (for the 4th year in a row)
Runner up – OFA BBQ Boys (donated their winnings to House of Blessing in Stratford)
Chops: 1st place – Steel Star BBQ (Ron Neily’s team from Sebringville)
Runner up – Hog Stove (Roger Leitch’s team from Stratford)
Ribs: 1st place – Steel Star BBQ – Ron Neily
Runner up – Burnt Offerings (Dave Kloostra from Monkton)
There were 8 teams entered – from Wheatley, Stratford, Woodstock, Clinton area, Monkton, Sebringville, Ellice Township and Wellington County.
This was the 9th version of the event. It is an open competition to pros and amateurs. OPC donates the meat and the purse.

Pork Week in Stratford, St. Marys, Tavistock and Shakespeare
June 20th thru 26th, 2010
Pork Week in Stratford acknowledges the importance the Ontario Pork Congress holds for the community.
During the week of June 20th to the 26th, the City of Stratford will fly the flag of the Ontario Pork Congress high above City Hall, in recognizing its role in Stratford and surrounding area. As well, select restaurants will offer pork specials and other features on their menus.

The home of the Ontario Pork Congress is the Rotary Complex, located at 353 McCarthy Road, just off County Road 119 near the northern entrance to Stratford.
Gold Event
June 22nd and 23rd, 2010
What began as an evening workshop of trends and research findings is now one of the focal points of the Ontario Pork Congress. The Gold Event is the eagerly-anticipated ‘Night before Congress’, with a timely forum of information for herdspeople and managers. It is dedicated to improving a farm’s bottom line, offering timely tips on health, heating and cooling, animal behaviour and emerging technologies.
The evening’s proceedings are made possible through the generous contributions of Pork Congress Gold Sponsors, and are therefore by invitation only.
